In the making since 1996, “Changing Faces”, produced by Scott Essman, presents key behind-the-scenes segments which highlight the special makeup effects process for film and television.  With narration and roving camera techniques, the viewer can follow the process from conceptual sculptures through finished applianches.  Filmed over the course of eight years, the four major segments each focus on a different aspect of creating makeup.

Segment 2. Behind the scenes with ALLFX

Follow along as we take you on a tour of special effects creator Eric Allard’s company ALLFX.  You’ll get an inside scoop and glimpse of one of Hollywood’s major effects houses.  Eric Allard won an award for “Stuart Little” and nominations for “Short Circuit” and “Short Circuit 2″.

Segment 3. Tour of Don Post Studios

Witness the inner workings of the legendary Don Post Studio, maker of the most popular masks, creatures and props direct from Hollywood.  Post’s father started the famous studio, the studioi is nearing its eight decade.

Segment 4. Makeup Awards – Jack Pierce Award

On February 16, 2003, the Hollywood Makeup Artists Union honored the longtime Universal Studios head of makeup Jack Pierce (1889-1968) with a lifetime achievement award at the Beverly Hilton hotel.  Watch as top makeup artists recreate Pierce’s most noted Universal characters, including Frankenstein’s Monster, the Mummy, the Bride, and Pierce himself for the occassion.
