(Source: c21media.net) Sesame Workshop is giving its Muppets a CGI makeover as well as unveiling a new slate of projects launching in October.

Abby Cadabby, the fairy in training who has appeared in Sesame Street, is getting her own show and 3D animated look in Abby’s Flying Fairy School.

The characters in the nine-minute CGI-animation series were designed by Peter De S\ufffdve, character designer for the Ice Age movie franchise.

Elsewhere in Munchin Possible (26×5′) to save the cookies of the world from Cookie Monster’s voracious appetite, The Man, a gingerbread cookie who heads up the CIA (Cookie Intelligence Agency) sends the blue monster out on location to discover healthy alternatives.

This puppet series, with live-action films from fields and orchards around the world, encourages children to find out more about their favourite healthy foods and where they come from.

[sesame workshop - ] Adventure and science series Elmo’s Backyard (26×5′, left) sees Elmo exploring his own backyard and finding things like a spider web, a worm in the vegetable patch or a frozen birdbath.

Viewers will be able to participate by sending in photos, drawings and videos of their backyards. The show aims to capitalise on children’s innate curiosity and introduce them to scientific processes.

Sesame is also launching half hour preschool block 3-2-1 Let’s Go (working title), which will feature segments from Play With Me Sesame, Global Grover, and introduce children to Bert and Ernie’s Great Adventures. Each episode of 3-2-1 Let’s Go will be hosted by Abby Cadabby.

All shows will be launched at Mipcom in Cannes October 5-9.
