The party is in New Zealand: The Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) will reveal “Oscar Winners Secrets” at the opening luncheon of Cineposium 08 on Saturday, November 22 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Wellington, New Zealand.

“This panel of remarkable talent sharing their professional insights and years of filmmaking experience is certain to be a Cineposium highlight,” says Robin James, AFCI Board President.  “Not only are they among the best in their respective fields but also are a testament to the wonderful and diverse filmmaking talent coming  out of New Zealand.”

“We have created this session to showcase the fantastic talents and ‘kiwi way’ of filmmaking,” says Delia Shanly, Manager of Film Wellington.   “As we have so many of New Zealand’s Academy Award® winners living or working in Wellington, we are able to provide a panel of Oscar winners to share their insights and secrets across a wide creative range.”

Moderated by Steven Gray, one of the most distinguished and enduring voices in New Zealand’s media, the Opening “Oscar Winners Secrets” Luncheon will include:

• Alex Funke, ASC  has been a cinematographer for over four decades winning many awards include three Academy Awards® for Visual Effects for “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers” and “Total Recall.”  A native Californian, Mr. Funke moved to New Zealand in 1999 for “The Lord of the Rings.”

• Michael Hedges, Re-recording Mixer has in the motion picture industry for over 15 years, with more than 40 features to his credit.  He won two Academy Awards® the first for his work on “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” and the second for his efforts on “King Kong.”

• Dan Hennah served as Supervising Art Director and Set Decorator on  “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy. For his work on all three films, he earned Oscar® nominations for “Fellowship of the Ring” and “The Two Towers,” and shared the 2004 Academy Award®  (with production designer Grant Major and set decorator Alan Lee) for “Return of the King.” He continued his collaboration with Mr. Major on Peter Jackson’s “King Kong,” collecting his fourth Oscar® nomination for the film’s Art Direction/Set Decoration.

• Grant Major has been a Production Designer for over 16 years.  He was nominated for four Academy Awards® for his work as a production designer on “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy and “King Kong.”  Mr. Major won his Oscar® for The “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.”

• Jamie Selkirk is a Producer and Film Editor.  He co-produced with Peter Jackson “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy, and received the Academy Award® for Film Editing for “The Return of the King.”  He also worked as the Supervising Editor for the first two episodes “The Fellowsh
