King Kong and Wonder Woman are heading to the Middle East, to be part of the world’s largest theme park playground in the Persian Gulf.

Entertainment giant Universal Studios has signed a deal in Dubai to create a 2.2 billion dollar attraction based on some of Hollywood’s most successful film franchises.

Shrek and Jurassic Park will also feature in the park.

Universal is reportedly in talks with other film studios in a bid to seek permission to use their films in the park, which opens in 2010.

[Editor's Note: Just don't go to Dubai if you've been in San Francisco or really anywhere in the western world at all as Dubai has a strict 'zero tolerance" policy. So much so that: Authorities arrested father-of-three Andrew Brown, 43, from Birmingham, and gave him a four-year jail sentence after police at Dubai airport found 0.003 grams (0.0001 ounce) {smaller than a grain of salt} of cannabis stuck to the sole of a shoe in his luggage.]
