The Digital Distribution Tax has been around for a little while now. In fact, seventeen or more states have already adopted it, and more are considering it.

Once upon a time, digitally distributed content, such as downloaded copies ofWoW and its expansions, allowed customers to avoid the sales tax that they would pay if they bought a copy from a store.

This proposed tax is poised to increase the costs of downloading music, books, videos, games, and other similar content.

(Source: blogs.amctv.com)    Last year word leaked out that George Lucas had a plan to re-release all six Star Wars movies in 3D, so that finally you could have the Death Star explode right in your lap (or alternately, get a full tongue experience from Jar-Jar Binks). This news has inevitably led to people asking why Lucas might do such a thing. After all, it’s not as if he’s hard up for cash; he’ll not be re-releasing these flicks to make the mortgage payment on Skywalker Ranch. So what is Lucas thinking?

I have three explanations:

To create the Dr. Manhattan character for Watchmen, Director Zack Snyder and Visual Effects Supervisor John “D.J.” Des Jardin opted to build actor Billy Crudup a motion-capture suit that incorporated a densely packed mesh of blue LEDs in order to provide an interactive light source on set consistent with the character’s nature. They then used Crudup’s live-action performance as reference for a largely hand-crafted CG character, which was built at Sony Pictures Imageworks.

That snooping snooper Alex Litel, decided to once again browse around the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and found some Dreamworks stuff that had recently been filed:

I noticed DreamWorks animation put in a filing for the very creative pun “Scared Shrekless,” and decided to go search for what else the company has registered; I unintentionally set off on an internet tangent where I discovered DreamWorks is a font of brilliance.

Seth Green will star in Walt Disney Pictures and ImageMovers’ performance-capture feature “Mars Needs Moms!” says The Hollywood Reporter.

An adaptation of the Berkeley Breathed children’s novel, the story follows a boy named Milo (Green) who stows away aboard a spaceship to rescue his mom (Joan Cusack) after she was kidnapped by aliens.

Mindy Sterling (“Austin Powers”) will play the alien leader of Mars, inspiring terror in all who meet her. Dan Fogler (Fanboys) is playing Gribble, a friend of Milo. Elisabeth Harnois has also joined the cast.

George Lucas is getting ready to produce his first film post Star Wars. It’s based on the famed Tuskegee Airmen and called “Red Tails.” Lucas wrote the story, the screenplay is by John RidleyAnthony Hemingway, whose work has been mostly on TV with HBO shows like “The Wire” and “Oz” is set to direct.

It’s not set in space, or even on the streets of suburban California back in the 1950s. But it is retro, and will be full of cool fighter pilots.
