With the first phase of the iPhone 3G launch in the rear view, Apple Inc. is now shifting much of its focus towards product refreshes targeting its two other revenue drivers and is advising resellers to be prepared for product shortages in the interim.

More specifically, the Cupertino-based company in recent days issued an advisement bulletin to some of its channel partners hinting at a manufacturing ramp down of iPods and certain Mac notebook models, which will result in limited supplies of those products in the coming weeks.

Who says that Walt Disney Pictures can’t keep a secret?

As the “Race to Witch Mountain” panel ended yesterday at Comic-Con, 6,500 people got to their feet. As these folks made ready to head back into the San Diego Convention Center, that panel’s MC hurried back onstage. Saying “Stay in your seats please. We have something else to show you folks. Something that won’t be in theaters for another year or so.”

And then the house lights went down again. The Walt Disney Pictures appeared on the screen, then quickly faded to black. A very familiar sort of black.

TrekMovie.com posted an exclusive interview with Star Trek movie producer Damon Lindelof. Here are few excerpts.

TrekMovie.com: So Damon, can you give us a production update? Where are you on your timeline?

Damon Lindelof: We are still cutting the movie, getting effects from ILM, and we are going to show the movie to the brass at Paramount, probably by the end of August. We are really, really, really excited about what we got. I think the movie really works. Then I think we are just going to be putting effects shots in. It is one of those things where we have stayed on the schedule to get the movie ready for Christmas, so we are going to be sitting on it for a while.

Shia LaBeouf is currently recovering at Cedars-Sinai Hospital from extensive hand surgery, as well as injuries to his knee and head caused by a car accident in Hollywood on Sunday morning, but the “Indiana Jones” star won’t be getting any sympathy cards from his “Transformers” co-star Tyrese Gibson, who downplayed the incident when MTV News caught up with him on Sunday at Comic-Con.

Asked if there were any contingency plans in place given the early word that LaBeouf might be in the hospital upwards of a month, Gibson scoffed: “A month? He won’t be in the hospital for a month. He just hurt his hand. He can afford a private nurse.”

Johnny Depp is tipped to play the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s new CGI / Live Action hybrid version of “Alice in Wonderland” for Disney Pictures reports Bang Media.

A re-imagining of the classic children’s tale by Lewis Carroll, the project would mark the seventh time Johnny and Tim have worked together and is scheduled for release in 2010.

The talk comes as Depp is said to be teaming up with director Terry Gilliam to finally make “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote” – the troubled project the pair previously tried to work on in 2001 but it fell apart due to a variety of issues.

Warner Bros. is developing a Marvin the Martian feature at Alcon Entertainment, with principals Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove producing along with Steve Crystal.

The project will blend live action and CGI.

Marvin was created by Chuck Jones and made his first appearance in a Looney Tunes cartoon in 1948. The character was often intent on blowing up the Earth, only to be foiled by Bugs Bunny.

Crystal, a former Warner executive with a first-look deal at Alcon through his Charlie Co. banner, developed the pitch as a Christmas story, with Marvin coming to Earth to destroy Christmas but being prevented from doing so when he’s trapped in a gift box. Alcon’s out to writers and directors.

If you’ve been on the fence about whether or not you want to spring for a WowWee Femisapien, perhaps a thorough, multi-page review would help. If you truck on over to robotsrule, you’ll find an ultra-in-depth look at the female automaton, with explorations into the bot’s interface, modes and behaviors, and a variety of other Femisapien idiosyncrasies. The conclusion? We’d have to say the reviewer is pretty much in full gush-mode over the new toy, calling it a “blockbuster hit” that’s “destined to take over the world.” We assume by “take over the world” they mean “obliterate humanity.”
