Shocker! Harmonix has done and made Rock Band 2. The game will be out on the Xbox 360 this September, and the PS3 later this year. The sequel will feature a new set list, and the RB2 bundle will feature “quieter, more realistic, and more reliable instruments” says Lead Designer Dan Teasdale. The good news for those who already own Rock Band is that all the songs you’ve purchases so far will be playable and supported in Rock Band 2. As far as Harmonix is concerned, there’s no difference between “Rock Band 1 DLC” and “Rock Band 2 DLC” — we’re just releasing awesome songs every week onto the Rock Band platform, all of which are playable by the Rock Band titles that support DLC,” says Teasdale. The sequel will offer folks a new way to play the DLC they currently own, however. Sure, Rock Band 2 should come as no surprise, but it does sound like Harmonix is pushing things forward. Teasdale points out:

Suck it, Lori Petty! (Eff her, she walked out when the winners were announced.)

The legendary visual effects maestro Stan Winston passed away last night. The news hasn’t hit the mainstream sources yet, but sources have confirmed it with close friends of Winston’s. He was only 62 years old.

The 27 year old daughter of George Lucas, Amanda Lucas debuted her mixed martial arts skills last night at the Princesses of Pain event in the Auckland Boxing Association Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand.

Amanda fought against Kiwi kickboxer Nicole Kavanagh while the event was being filmed.

The footage will end up on a new reality TV show featuring a women’s international fight league.

Belinda Dunne, the promoter for Princesses of Pain, mentioned how down to Earth Amanda really is.

She says:

Bonnie Burton at Lucas OnLine recently received the coolest envelope/mail art from a guy named Adam Koford, AKA Ape Lad:

it turns out this guy has been producing an online strip called “Laugh-Out-Load Cats“, which is freakin’ AWESOME and which, as one commentator said, “really show that even the most overdone netmeme can get a fresh look.”

CityCenter is a massive new multi-use building project designed by architectural rock star Daniel Libeskind. It is currently under construction in Las Vegas, and — according to AppleInsider — the jewel in this glittering crown will be a supermassive Apple Store, located directly in the front of the complex right along Las Vegas Boulevard.

Quoting “people familiar with the project”, AppleInsider claims that the store will boast over 20,000 feet of floor space on two levels. The article is accompanied by architectural renderings, though none of them feature any giant white apples or other clues as to the exact placement of the store.

Freeverse has been working on a racing game (undoubtedly going to be one of a few released by different companies) for the iPhone called Wingnuts Moto Racer, but various NDAs, game mechanics secrets, and developer confidentialities have kept them from being able to talk about it too much, with us or anyone else. Still, demand has apparently pushed them to release something, and so they have posted this heavily-edited- with-red ink “review” of how the game plays.
